Many of the principles and methods of this course are derived from those developed at the Centre for Applied Social Research at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in London. Similar conferences in this country are sponsored by the A.K. Rice Institute (AKRI) and its 9 regional centers, including GREX - the West Coast Center. The UCLA Center for the Study of Group and Organizational Dynamics (CSOGD) sponsors events and programs based on a similar perspective. UCLA Center: Margaret Stuber, M.D. is the Director of the UCLA CSOGD. She is a Professor in the department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. Dr. Stuber is the director of medical student education for the department of psychiatry and directs the psychiatric consultation service to Pediatrics at the Mattel Children's hospital at UCLA. Workshop Staff: David A. Rapkin, PhD is the Director of this Application Workshop and the UCLA CSOGD Course Coordinator for Application Seminars. At UCLA he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Surgery. At the UCLA Division of Head and Neck Surgery he is the founder and Director of the Mind-Body Medicine Group, a health psychology service. Dr. Rapkin practices independently as a clinical and health psychologist and organizational consultant. Vivian Gold, PhD is the Associate Director for the November 2000 Applications Workshop. Dr. Gold is a psychologist at the Veterans Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare Service. Also she is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the the department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. Dr. Gold is the Course Coordinator for Psychologists attending conferences sponsored by The UCLA CSOGD. She is a board member of Grex, the West coast center of the AK Rice Institute, and board member of the UCLA CSOGD. Dr. Gold also has a private practice of clinical and consulting psychology, Los Angeles, CA. Donald T. Freeman, MD is a member of the Advisory Board to The UCLA CSOGD. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA, teaching the Tavistock application seminars. He is He also has a private practice in Santa Monica and is an analytic candidate at the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute. Ara Haroutiounian, M.S. is a member of the Advisory Board to The UCLA CSOGD. He is currently completing his dissertation for a PhD in organizational psychology from CSPP-LA. He is also the President and CEO of HealthcareNet, an Internet based survey assessment company serving the healthcare industry. He has worked as an organizational consultant to the healthcare and Internet industries. Allison Pinto, PhD is a member of the Advisory Board to The UCLA CSOGD and is a member of GREX and the AK Rice Institute. Dr. Pinto is the Director of Psychology Training at Saint John's Child and Family Development Center.
